How to Cancel a Dating Subscription: Website, iPhone and Android

Cancel a dating subscription through the company that bills it: the dating website, Apple or Google Play. Removing an app, hiding a profile and turning off renewal are different actions. Start with the receipt, stop the renewal through the right account and keep the confirmation.

The phone you use now does not establish where you bought the subscription. Someone who uses an iPhone may have paid on the dating website; someone with an Android phone may have a subscription bought through Apple on an earlier device.

Look for the purchase receipt and compare it with the charge on your statement. It should identify the billing company, account and product. If you have several email addresses or store accounts, search those receipts before assuming the subscription is missing.

Do not cancel an unrelated subscription simply because its name looks similar. Separate receipts can also reveal a second membership or a one-off purchase that is not controlled by the same renewal setting.

Sign into the account used for the purchase and open its membership, payments or subscription settings. Follow the renewal-cancellation process through to the confirmation screen. Entering the settings page alone does not change a renewal.

For Match UK purchases made directly through the service, the computer route is Account settings, Manage account, then Manage subscription. Its cancellation instructions specify a window from 24 hours after purchase until 48 hours before renewal. That is Match’s rule, not a deadline to apply to every dating service.

Match also distinguishes renewal from payments due for an existing membership: cancelling renewal can leave instalments outstanding. Read the confirmation as a change to the next renewal, not an automatic release from the term already purchased.

If the control is missing, establish the billing channel before contacting support. A subscription bought through a store is normally managed there, even if you can see paid features inside the dating account.

2. Tap your name.
3. Tap Subscriptions.
4. Choose the relevant dating subscription.
5. Tap Cancel Subscription and complete the confirmation.

Apple says that if there is no cancellation button, or an expiry message appears in red, the subscription is already cancelled. Keep a record of the status and expiry date rather than keep searching for a second button.

If the membership is not listed, look at the receipt to identify the Apple Account used to buy it. A different family member’s account or an earlier account may hold the purchase. If the receipt identifies a different billing company, use that company’s route instead.

Apple’s cancellation instructions also cover its other devices. For a free or discounted trial billed by Apple, its guidance is to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

1. Open Google Play with the account used for the purchase.
2. Tap the profile icon.
3. Choose Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
4. Select the dating subscription and tap Cancel subscription.
5. Follow the instructions and retain the resulting status.

Uninstalling the app does not cancel a Google Play subscription. If the membership is missing, change to the account shown on the purchase receipt rather than register a new dating account.

Cancellation normally stops the next renewal while leaving access for the period already paid for. An expiry date in the future can therefore be consistent with a successful cancellation. Google Play’s subscription guidance explains cancellation and remaining access.

Keep the final screen or email, the date you cancelled and the subscription’s paid-through date. Look for a status indicating that renewal is off or the membership ends, rather than a new renewal date alone.

Paid features may continue until expiry. That does not, by itself, show that cancellation failed. Similarly, deleting a profile does not by itself establish that a store subscription stopped.

If another charge arrives, compare the transaction date, billing company and product with the records. A charge could relate to an existing instalment, a different subscription or a renewal that was not stopped in time. Do not guess from the app’s current appearance.

Turning off renewal does not automatically refund money already paid. Refund requests go to the company that billed the purchase and depend on the circumstances and applicable policy.

For Apple-billed purchases, use Apple’s refund request process through reportaproblem.apple.com. Select Request a refund, give the reason and choose the relevant purchase. A pending charge cannot be submitted for a refund until it has completed. Making the request does not establish eligibility.

For Google Play purchases, Google’s refund guidance says a request within 48 hours may qualify depending on the purchase details; after 48 hours, contact the developer. The time window is not a promise that every request will be accepted.

For a directly billed membership, use the dating company’s refund or support route and include the relevant receipt. Keep renewal off separately if you do not want another term while the request is considered.

Complete and record the billing action first. Then use the dating service’s deletion or closure process if that is what you want. A visibility setting is not the same as deleting an account, and neither should be assumed to manage a store subscription.

Can the dating website cancel an Apple subscription for me?

Use the Apple Account that holds the purchase. Access to the dating account is not the same as control of Apple’s billing record.

Why can I still message after cancelling?

You may be using the remainder of a paid term. Look at the billing status and expiry date, not only whether a feature is still available.

Will cancelling stop every future instalment?

Not necessarily. Renewal and payments within an existing contracted term are different. Match UK, for example, warns that instalments can remain due after renewal is stopped.

Should I delete the app to stop payment?

No. Use the billing provider’s cancellation route. Removing an app changes the device, not the subscription record.

Do all services have a 48-hour cancellation deadline?

No. Match’s renewal instructions, Google’s refund window and Apple’s trial guidance concern different actions. Do not treat one company’s number as a rule for all subscriptions.

What should I send support if the charge is unclear?

The receipt or transaction reference, purchase date, product name and cancellation record, if you have one. Do not send a password or a complete payment-card number in an ordinary support message.
