1. Registration and profile setup

Members create a profile describing themselves and the person or connection they want. Public and private photo albums are supported, along with interests, comments, first-date ideas and lifestyle information. The profile can be hidden while existing conversations remain usable.

2. Search and Discover

Standard members receive basic search by gender, age range and region. Premium unlocks additional lifestyle, interest, location and distance criteria and allows unlimited searches. This is more useful than a swipe queue for mature users with clear requirements around location, travel and everyday compatibility.

3. Flame matching

Flame displays one potential match photo at a time for a Like or Skip decision. When two members both add each other to the heart pile, the service notifies them. Flame offers a faster alternative to Discover without removing the detailed profile and search system.

4. Winks and messages

A Standard account can send twenty Winks per day during its first three days and forty per day afterwards. It cannot initiate normal messages, but it can reply free when a Premium member sends the first message. Premium members can send unlimited first messages and unlimited Winks.

5. Voice and video calls

Premium provides voice and video communication inside the chat area. A member opens an existing conversation and uses the camera control to begin a call. This allows a face-to-face check before meeting without sharing a private phone number.

6. Profile visitors and activity status

Premium shows who viewed or liked the profile. A solid green dot means a member is online; a green circle with a white centre means the member was online within the previous three days. These indicators help distinguish current activity from an old profile.

7. Private albums and notes

Members can keep selected photos in a private album, approve individual access requests and later remove access through the private-photo list or chat controls. Private Notes are visible only to the account owner and can record impressions or reminders about a match.

8. Privacy controls

Premium includes anonymous browsing, the ability to hide from selected members, username changes and other visibility controls. A hidden profile can still send and receive messages with visible members. SeniorMatch promotes more than ten privacy controls across profile, album and communication settings.

9. Verification and moderation

Video-selfie verification compares the submitted live image with public profile photos and is normally reviewed within one working day. The verification image remains confidential and cannot be viewed after submission. SeniorMatch also manually reviews accounts and provides profile and message reporting, but it does not conduct background checks.

10. Groups and interactive features

Topic chatrooms, group discussions, greeting cards, animated Winks, comments and first-date ideas add community interaction beyond private messaging. Members can leave a group through the three-dot menu and can hide conversations without deleting them.

SeniorMatch is a strong specialist option for mature singles who want more control than a basic swipe app provides. The strict over-50 positioning, travel and activity-partner options, video-selfie verification, private albums and in-platform video calls all fit the audience well. The free account is useful because it allows browsing, Winks and replies to paying members.

The main drawback for UK users is billing: the website lists all Premium prices in US dollars, so the card provider can add currency-conversion or foreign-transaction fees. Standard members also cannot initiate a normal message. Premium solves that limitation, but the six-month term requires a $95.95 upfront (about £71.38) commitment.

Premium renews automatically for the same term and original dollar charge until renewal is turned off. Cancellation stops the next charge while access continues to the end of the paid term.

Best starting option: one month has the lowest commitment. The six-month plan offers the lowest monthly rate for members who have already found a strong local pool.

The decisive difference is who can start a conversation. Standard can reply to Premium; Premium can contact any eligible member first.

SeniorMatch offers video-selfie verification. The member records a live selfie and the review team checks that it matches the person shown in the public profile photos, normally within one working day. The submitted verification image is confidential. Public photos and captions also go through approval, and an edited caption or reset main photo is reviewed again.

Verification is optional and SeniorMatch does not conduct background checks. A verification badge shows that a selfie matched the displayed photos; it does not prove relationship status, financial claims or good intentions. Report suspicious profiles from the profile or message window using the three-dot menu.

The free experience is functional but dependent on Premium members making the first move. Standard members can search, Wink and reply, so a complete profile can still produce conversations without payment. Premium becomes necessary for proactive contact, detailed search, video calls and greater visibility.

The service works on desktop and mobile apps. Desktop provides the clearest subscription, privacy and album controls. Apple and Google purchases remain tied to the store account and must be cancelled there even if the SeniorMatch profile is deleted.

Turn off website auto-renewal

Open Settings → Subscriptions, select the link reading “Your membership will automatically renew until you cancel your subscription by clicking here”, then choose Continue Management to stop renewal. Premium remains active until the paid term ends and the account then returns to Standard. SeniorMatch does not provide a pause or freeze option.

Apple and Google subscriptions

For iPhone or iPad billing, use Settings → your name → Subscriptions → SeniorMatch → Cancel Subscription. Google Play purchases must be cancelled under Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Deleting the SeniorMatch profile does not stop Apple or Google billing. For direct credit-card billing, SeniorMatch states that deleting the account also cancels the subscription.

Refund requests

SeniorMatch accepts requests for full or prorated refunds through Customer Service and normally handles them within one business day. Call 1-416-628-1072 or 1-888-702-1274, or email support@SeniorMatch.com. Provide the account email, payment date and transaction information.

Deactivate or delete the profile

Open Settings → My Account and select “Click here to deactivate or delete your account”. Deactivation hides the account; deletion removes it. Cancel Apple or Google billing separately before deleting an app-created account.

SeniorMatch is best for over-50s who want a dedicated age group, profile search and community features. Build a complete free profile first, then use the shortest Premium term when several active local members are worth messaging.
