Veggly Review UK

Veggly lets vegans and vegetarians like profiles, form a mutual VegMatch and chat free. It is worth trying before paying for a niche dating app. The paid choices need more care: Avocado Club is a subscription, while Carrots fund individual extras such as Super Likes and pre-match messages.

Veggly is for adults aged 18 and over who want vegan or vegetarian dating. It is a more focused place to start when diet matters to the relationship, although joining does not establish that every member is vegan or that their other expectations match yours.

The service has a UK iPhone listing and an official Android download link. Its website also links to a web version labelled beta. The public web entry offers registration and login, but a beta label is not a promise that every app feature works identically in a browser.

We would consider it for someone who wants free matched conversations and prefers exploring a specialist app before committing to a subscription. Someone looking primarily for friendship has a clearer dedicated mode to compare in Grazer.

Finding people and starting a conversation

An ordinary chat begins when two people like each other. Veggly calls that mutual match a VegMatch. Sending a like on its own does not open a full conversation with someone who has not liked you back.

The Home screen can be ordered by Distance, New Users or Default. Default prioritises people who have been online recently. These choices give you different ways to assess the feed: nearby profiles for practical meetings, or new arrivals if you keep seeing people you have already considered.

Recently online does not mean interested in you, and a profile appearing in a distance search does not prove the person will travel. Look at the location, profile and relationship preferences together. If the same few profiles keep appearing, consider whether widening distance would be realistic rather than paying immediately for more visibility.

The manual describes text and audio messages in chat. A voice message can make a conversation less impersonal, but it is not identity verification. A meaningful discussion still depends on both people choosing to participate.

Free membership and Avocado Club

The core free route is straightforward: sign up, like, get a VegMatch and chat. You do not need Avocado Club to reply to an ordinary mutual match, and a blurred incoming-like screen does not mean all messaging is paid.

Avocado Club adds the incoming-likes view before matching, an ad-free experience, extra profile visibility, Teleportation, read confirmation and three monthly Carrots. Teleportation changes where you explore profiles; it does not change your real travel distance or make an international introduction local.

Read receipts show that a message was opened, not why someone has or has not answered. For a reader who would find that information frustrating rather than helpful, it is a weak reason to subscribe.

Reasons to try the free version

  • Mutual matching and ordinary chat are free.
  • Feed ordering helps separate nearby people from new arrivals.
  • Vegan and vegetarian dating is the service's central purpose.
  • You can assess the basic matching route before choosing paid extras.

Reasons to pause before upgrading

  • The free service has advertising.
  • A pre-match message still depends on the recipient's interest.
  • Paid visibility does not establish local membership or reply rates.
  • Store listings contain several subscription labels, so the exact offer needs checking.

Carrots, Compliments and UK pricing

Carrots are separate from an ordinary free like. The current manual lists one Carrot for a Super Like, one for a pre-match Compliment and five for a VegBoost. A Super Like highlights interest; VegBoost promotes the profile's visibility.

A Compliment sends a personal message attached to someone's profile photo before you have matched. It also likes their profile. The recipient can like you back to continue a free conversation. Compliments to an existing VegMatch are free. The useful distinction is between paying to send an introduction and paying for a guaranteed exchange: only the introduction is being offered.

The UK iPhone listing checked on 9 October 2026 includes “Avocado Club 3 Months” at £34.99, along with other products carrying names such as Veggly Premium and Veggly Plus. A product without a stated billing period should not be treated as a monthly quote, and similarly named plans should not be assumed to include identical features.

UK iPhone listed purchaseListed totalHow to interpret it
Avocado Club 3 Months£34.99Three-month product; about £11.66 per month equivalent
1 Carrot£2.99Optional currency purchase
10 Carrots£7.99Optional currency bundle
50 Carrots£24.99Optional currency bundle

These are listed purchases, not a guaranteed offer for your account or Android. Check the plan name, included features, total payment and renewal period at checkout. If your only aim is to talk to a mutual match, first use the free chat rather than buy Carrots or a subscription.

Hide, Exclude and Block are different controls

Veggly's Hide option removes a profile from your Home feed. It does not stop the person matching with you if there is mutual interest. You can manage hidden profiles in Settings.

Exclude is intended to prevent further viewing, matching or talking between the two profiles. Block provides a stronger contact restriction in situations where previous likes can otherwise leave a route to contact. For harassment or persistent unwanted attention, use Block and consider reporting through the profile's three-dot menu. Hiding alone is not the appropriate tool.

Veggly offers selfie validation, but its terms do not promise criminal background checks or verification of every profile statement, including diet. Neither a vegetarian label nor a validation feature makes a request for money safe. Keep personal financial information out of conversations, and plan a public first meeting.

Privacy, pausing and leaving

Nearby discovery uses location permission. Veggly's privacy policy describes collection of profile information, chats and usage information, with precise location collected where permission is granted. Review your device's permission level rather than treating an app's vegan focus as a privacy policy.

To leave, use Settings → Privacy → Manage Account and follow the account-deletion prompts. Uninstalling does not remove the retained account data. The service also offers Hibernate for a break, retaining data and likes for a return. Choose deletion or hibernation deliberately; they serve different purposes.

After deletion, signing in again through Apple or Facebook can create a new account. Do not use a fresh sign-in as a way to confirm that the old profile has disappeared.

Avocado Club renews automatically. Cancel through the Apple or Google store account used to buy it; the FAQ says paid features continue for the remaining purchased period. Profile deletion, stopping renewal and requesting a refund are separate actions.

Our verdict and alternatives

Veggly is a reasonable free app to compare with Grazer when you want a partner who shares vegan or vegetarian interests. Its strongest proposition is simple: mutual interest can become a conversation without payment. Feed ordering is also useful when you want to concentrate on distance or new profiles.

We would be more selective with the paid features. Establish that there are people you would genuinely like to meet before paying for their attention. Choose Avocado Club for a specific feature you need, rather than assuming an upgrade will turn an unsuitable local feed into a busy one.

For an ad-free free plan and a separate friendship mode, compare Grazer. For searching a website and writing without a mutual-match step, consider VeggieConnection. Our vegan dating guide puts the contact rules side by side.

Veggly questions

Do I need to pay to chat on Veggly?

No. Ordinary chat after a mutual VegMatch is free. Seeing who liked you before matching and sending certain pre-match introductions are optional paid features.

Does hiding someone stop them contacting me?

No. Hide changes your feed. For unwanted contact, use the relevant Block control and report abuse where appropriate.

Is a Compliment the same as a free message?

A Compliment before matching costs one Carrot and sends an introduction attached to a photo. The recipient must return your interest for the ordinary free conversation to continue. Compliments to existing matches are free.

How do I stop Avocado Club renewing?

Cancel in the store account that handles the subscription. Uninstalling the app or deleting the dating profile should not be used as a substitute for cancelling renewal.
