Relationship Goals lets members state whether they want a long-term partner, short-term dating, new friends or another listed intention. Explore groups profiles around interests and dating experiences. 6. Tinder Plus

Plus removes advertising and adds unlimited Likes, unlimited Rewinds, Passport and Incognito. Rewind restores the most recent swipe. Passport changes the search location. Incognito keeps the profile hidden from people unless the subscriber has already liked them.

Gold contains every Plus feature and adds the Likes You list, Top Picks, weekly Super Likes and a monthly Boost. Likes You turns incoming interest into a visible queue, while a Boost increases profile visibility in the local area for a limited period.

8. Tinder Platinum

Platinum contains the Plus and Gold benefits, gives the subscriber’s Likes priority over standard Likes and allows a message to be added before matching through a Super Like. Platinum changes visibility and contact priority; it does not guarantee replies or compatible matches.

Photo Verification compares a live video selfie with profile photos and displays a verification badge when approved. Optional identity checks are available in supported markets. Members can report, block, unmatch, hide Discovery, block known contacts and share planned date details with a trusted person.

10. Where Tinder can disappoint

The swipe format favours fast decisions and profiles vary greatly in detail. A large audience also produces more low-effort profiles and mixed intentions. People who want a compatibility questionnaire, a faith-based pool or a community limited to one age group will receive more relevant screening from a specialist service.

Tinder is the strongest mainstream option when the priority is reach, fast local discovery and free messaging after a mutual match. The free account is functional enough to create a profile, swipe, match and hold conversations, so a subscription is not required for the central dating process.

The paid tiers are visibility and convenience upgrades. Plus is the sensible tier for unlimited discovery, Passport and Incognito. Gold is useful when the Likes You queue would save substantial swiping time. Platinum is only justified for members who specifically want priority Likes and the ability to attach a message before matching.

Tinder combines automated moderation with member-controlled verification and reporting. Photo Verification uses a live video selfie to compare the person with their profile photos. A verification badge confirms that the selfie check passed; it does not verify every biographical claim or guarantee good intentions.

The app allows members to report a profile or message, unmatch a conversation, block contacts, control discovery visibility and request data deletion. Share My Date can send date details to a trusted person. Google’s UK Play listing states that data is encrypted in transit and that users can request deletion, while also disclosing collection of location, personal information and other data types.

Tinder is designed for frequent, short mobile sessions. Discovery is fast, messages are organised by match and profile editing is straightforward. The Android app also supports tablets and Chromebooks, while Tinder.com provides a workable desktop version for browsing, messaging and subscription management.

The experience is strongest in populated areas where the pool refreshes regularly. In smaller locations, Passport can widen the search but may create impractical travel distances. Relationship Goals and prompts reduce some ambiguity, although they do not replace detailed compatibility screening.

Notifications can become frequent when Matches, Likes, promotions and messages are all enabled. Adjust notification and Discovery settings early, and use Incognito only if control over who sees the profile is worth a paid upgrade.

Cancel automatic renewal

iPhone: open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Tinder → Cancel Subscription. Google Play: open Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Tinder → Cancel subscription.

Tinder.com or direct Android billing: sign in, open the profile icon → Manage Payment Account → select the subscription → Cancel Subscription. Deleting the app does not stop renewal. A cancelled subscription remains available until the end of the paid term.

Refunds

Tinder treats most purchases as non-refundable but accepts requests concerning purchases made within the previous 14 days. Direct Tinder orders are submitted to Tinder support from the email used for the purchase and must include the order number. Apple and Google decide refunds for purchases processed through their stores.

Delete the account

Sign in to the app or Tinder.com → profile icon → Settings → scroll to the bottom → Delete Account. Account deletion removes the visible profile, matches, messages and photos under Tinder’s deletion policy, but it does not cancel an active subscription. Tinder retains profile data for a 90-day safety window before scheduled purging; a limited 90-day restore test is available only in selected markets.

Tinder is a good fit if:

• You want one of the largest pools of nearby singles and are comfortable with swipe-based discovery.
• You want to match and message without paying for a subscription.
• You can state your relationship goal clearly and filter mixed intentions through profiles and conversation.
• You want Passport, Incognito or a visible Likes You queue as optional upgrades.

Tinder is not the best fit if:
